VFW Post 8254
Government & Civic · Ione, CA

The VFW traces its roots to 1899, when veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection founded local organisations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Many had arrived home wounded or sick, with no medical care or veterans’ pension, and were left to care for themselves. Some of those veterans banded together and formed what became the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
